On October 7th, a new video showcasing Park Seo-joon was released on the YouTube channel of Sung Si-kyung.
During the video, Park Seo-joon shared insights into the beginnings of his acting career. He revealed, “I began acting when I was a first-year high school student. Initially, my parents were against it, especially my father, who opposed my decision strongly. As an actor, I need to engage socially, which motivated me to open up more. I used to be quite shy and timid during my childhood.”
When prompted about his choice to pursue acting, Park Seo-joon remarked, “Back in middle school, particularly in the third grade, I despised that timid side of myself. I felt foolish for my inability to speak up.”
Sung Si-kyung interjected, “You must have faced bullying or been overlooked by your peers.” In response, Park Seo-joon admitted, “I experienced some bullying in elementary school and remained a reserved individual throughout middle school.”
Sung Si-kyung empathized, sharing his own history with bullying during elementary school. “Nowadays, there are numerous discussions regarding bullying. I think it’s the first time I’m sharing this—my experience from first to fourth grade felt like hell. This experience instilled in me a strong aversion to violence and conflict. I’m thankful I never retaliated, as I vividly remember how awful it felt to be on the receiving end of such treatment. Those who bullied were often innocent themselves, yet just as cruel,” he explained.
Park Seo-joon reflected, “Ultimately, it boils down to self-esteem and confidence. Back then, I certainly lacked confidence, often feeling worthless. However, as I embarked on my acting journey, I gradually built up my self-esteem. This experience enabled me to express myself and pursue my passions for the first time, which fueled my determination.”
