On October 9, the wedding of video creator Park We and former SECRET member Song Ji-eun took place in Seoul. Park We has inspired many due to his remarkable journey of recovering from full-body paralysis resulting from a fall and for his romantic bond with Song Ji-eun, which is rooted in their mutual Christian beliefs.
As part of his role as a content creator, Park We showcased highlights from their wedding on his channel, “Weracle,” where a speech given by his brother sparked significant discussion.
Park Ji-woo opened his speech by declaring himself “the eternal brother-in-law of the bride, Song Ji-eun.” He proceeded to share the family’s struggles following his brother’s paralysis diagnosis a decade ago.
Expressing his concern for his brother, he stated, “I wanted to ensure my brother did not feel restricted or uneasy.” He humorously recounted a gym incident between his brother and Song Ji-eun, playfully mimicking her reaction to a humorous situation involving bodily functions.
Park Ji-woo wrapped up his speech with a heartfelt message, “The challenges we’ve faced have only strengthened our family ties. My brother has united my sister-in-law through that bond. Thank you for joining our family, and congratulations on your new journey together!”
Although his speech was meant to express gratitude, it faced criticism once it was shared online. Some viewers questioned specific statements made, perceiving the imitation of Song Ji-eun’s response as belittling. Certain netizens voiced their discomfort regarding the discussion of bodily topics at such a public event, while others defended the couple, suggesting that the criticism from the public was overly sensitive.
