Passengers Soaked on Flight to New York Due to Cabin Rains

The trip to New York took a turn for the worse when it started “raining”inside the airplane, drenching everyone on board.

On May 15, 2024, while boarding her four-hour flight back to New York City, popular TikToker Savinnyc noticed something amiss and decided to record herself. She shared the video on her TikTok account.

The video shows the pilot stating, “It seems that it is raining inside the cabin.”The footage reveals a continuous mist falling from the ceiling, drenching everything in its path.

Despite feeling extremely cold, the TikToker attempted to use her overshirt as a barrier to keep the armrest dry.

The video spread rapidly, garnering more than two million views. A large number of those who watched were taken aback by the passengers’ ordeal and questioned the cause behind it.

In response, one user vehemently stated their disagreement and expressed their intention to seek compensation.

One person expressed, “I absolutely despise feeling wet and cold. It would definitely put me in a state of complete meltdown.”

“Another person clarified that the moisture was a result of both the air conditioner and the high humidity outside.”

It is accurate to say that the previous commenter is correct. When warm air from the outside enters the airplane and rapidly cools, it transforms into condensation which then fills up the insulation in the plane’s ‘dome.’ At times, these blankets may become too full, causing the mist to seep through the overhead compartments.

Despite efforts from a Swedish company to prevent this, there is still a chance of passengers getting wet until the solution is implemented on all planes globally.

Prior to this incident, there have been other airplane mishaps that gained attention on TikTok. In April 2024, a United Airlines flight had to be diverted due to a dog defecating in the aisle. A more recent occurrence involved passengers expressing anger over a flight delay caused by the pilot’s decision to provide the crew with pizza.
