GLOBAL

GAMEPLAY

Today’s update includes substantial adjustments to base weapon attributes in Modern Warfare III and Warzone. Driven by player feedback and an internal review, these changes aim to improve aiming accuracy and responsiveness, particularly when using a mouse – although these changes can be seen regardless of the aiming device. entrance.

ADS Inactive Movement

When a player aims accurately, the idle move is active. This mechanic discourages players from holding their aim for an extended period of time with constant, subtle movement that introduces slight inaccuracy.

  • ADS idle movement now initiates shortly after starting to aim, rather than immediately, introducing a delay to the movement curve that is typically 5ms but varies by weapon.
    • Note: Sniper rifles are not included in this change.
  • After the initial delay, ADS idle movement gradually increases over a period of 3s before reaching its maximum speed, rather than starting at full speed from the start of aiming.
    • Note: Sniper rifles are not included in this change.
  • ADS idle movement now consistently starts from the player’s hip firing reticle position, rather than along the movement curve.

“These changes ensure that players with quick reflexes and precise aim are not at a disadvantage from the moment they aim.»

Hip Shooting Reticle Movement

The trajectory of weapon bullets is represented by the position of the hip-fire reticle on the player’s screen. Previously, the reticle was influenced by the direction of the weapon, causing the firing direction to deviate from the center of the screen. Today’s changes eliminate the resulting compromise in accuracy without sacrificing the weight and responsiveness that this movement added.

  • The hip fire reticle will no longer move from the center of the screen while the player is moving or rotating the camera.
    • Note: We are aware that some lacrosse accessories may reintroduce this behavior. This is unintentional, and we will fix these artifacts in future game updates.
  • The trajectory of weapon bullets is now truly aligned with the hip-fire reticle, and therefore, the center of the player’s screen.

“These changes reward competent aim. In short, where you aim is where your bullets will go.»

Perspectives

Please take a moment to adjust to these changes and let us know what you think. We will continue to monitor your feedback as we determine the next steps for aiming and related mechanics.

We’ve adjusted health regeneration to better match the pace of gameplay. Now, for example, it will only take ~5s to heal from 1 to 150 health points, compared to ~7.7s previously. These changes aim to improve the intensity and satisfaction of combat.
