If you’ve come across a stash of mushrooms in Path of Exile 2, rest assured you’re not the only one uncertain about their purpose. Once you’ve collected these quest items, they cannot be discarded or stored in your Stash, necessitating their return to the rightful owner.
Locating the Mushrooms in Path of Exile 2
The mushrooms you seek are exclusively found in the Apex of Filth, an area located in Act 3. To gain access, you must first clear the water obstructing the route to the Drowned City.
After draining the water, proceed to explore the Drowned City. Within its depths, you’ll discover the entrance to the Apex of Filth.
As you tackle enemies in the Apex of Filth, you’ll notice that the three types of mushrooms—red, green, and blue—drop randomly from the foes you defeat. Clearing the area will eventually yield the full set of mushrooms you need.
Handing Over the Mushrooms in Path of Exile 2
Now that you have the mushrooms in your inventory, you might be questioning their origin and what to do next. Notably, these mushrooms occupy seven inventory slots—space that could otherwise be utilized for more advantageous items.
Fortunately, you won’t have to carry these mushrooms for long, as there’s a way to dispose of them in the same area.
Continue your exploration along the borders of the Apex of Filth until you discover a staircase leading to an open area centered around a large, bubbling cauldron. Interacting with this cauldron allows you to drop all three mushrooms, which will earn you rewarding high-level Life and Mana Flasks.
The quality and attributes of these flasks vary since they are subject to random drops typical of Path of Exile 2. Nevertheless, you can expect to receive valuable rewards, including magic or rare flasks, upon successfully completing this mushroom quest.
Adjacent to the cauldron awaits a gentle figure known as the Cauldron Keeper. This character operates a shop where you can buy or sell various items, notably jewelry and staffs tailored for spellcasters. This convenient location allows you to offload any surplus armor or weapons without needing to traverse back to your camp.
