Despite the positive reception, Path of Exile 2’s launch faced several challenges that have prompted swift action from the developers.

Community Insights

Prior to this patch release, Grinding Gear Games expressed their appreciation for player feedback through a blog post, detailing the specific issues being addressed:

Improvements to Dodge Rolling

Many players reported frustrations about being easily trapped by monsters. While this mechanic adds challenge, the frequency has been excessive. Upcoming changes include:

  • Players will have a size of zero units while performing a dodge roll, allowing for more maneuverability.
  • Smaller monsters, such as Adorned Beetles, can now be pushed while dodge rolling.

These changes aim to minimize instances where players become trapped, though complete immunity is not guaranteed.

Checkpoint Enhancements

Players have indicated that retracing steps in maps is often tedious. The following modifications are planned:

  • Clicking on a checkpoint will enable teleports to other checkpoints within explored areas on the minimap.
  • Checkpoints are now added at all zone entrances and exits for easier navigation.
  • A new checkpoint will be located at the midpoint of the first Dreadnaught area.

The developers plan to continue refining checkpoint placements based on ongoing feedback.

Item Reward Adjustments

Players have voiced concerns regarding the game’s reward system. Adjustments are necessary to create a more satisfying loot experience:

Boosting Rare Monster Rewards

Feedback indicated that Rare Monsters did not provide sufficient rewards, especially noticeable during endgame gameplay. Changes include:

  • Doubling the Rarity bonus per rare mod.
  • A +10% Quantity bonus for each rare mod.
  • Increased chances for Rare Monsters to possess additional modifiers in endgame scenarios.

These modifications are intended to enhance the scaling of rewards as players progress through higher levels.

Refinements to Currency Drops

Players have reported insufficient currency gains, particularly in earlier stages. The following adjustments are being made:

  • Regal Orbs’ drop rates have increased by approximately 40%.
  • Disenchanting six mod rare items will now yield two Regal Shards instead of one.
  • Lesser Jewellers Orbs will benefit from a 33% drop rate increase.
  • The drop rates for Chaos Orbs have been slightly reduced to create space for more valuable currencies.
  • Gemcutter’s Prism drop rates have surged by an impressive 500%.
  • Gemcutter’s Prisms will now boost gem quality by 5%, up from 1%.

Enhancements to Map Mod Drops

The game previously did not reward players adequately for the challenges added by map mods. Therefore, all prefix map mods have been restructured:

  • Rarity mods have been augmented by 2.5 times.
  • Quantity mods have increased rarity, with additional adjustments slated for future patches.
  • Bottom-tier mods have been eliminated to streamline gameplay.
  • Players will now have a higher chance to roll modifiers better suited for improving drops or pack sizes.

Adjustments to “Unlucky”Drops

Outlier “unlucky”drops can severely impact players, especially when they occur with Unique bosses early in the game. Changes involve:

  • Unique monsters’ drops will not exceed 50% gold.
  • Act Bosses and Map Bosses will always drop at least one rare item.

Revamped Moving Mechanics

Players encountered issues with the “Move Only” command, which caused unintended actions. This has now been rectified:

  • The “Move Only” command will no longer name-lock.

Improvements in Endgame Maps

Players have highlighted concerns about missing Rare Monsters in endgame maps. Upcoming changes include:

  • Rare Monsters will appear on the minimap when 200 monsters are remaining, rather than 50.
  • Many maps will feature additional Rare Monsters to ensure sufficient presence across all map types.

The developers concluded with a commitment to continue enhancing map designs and monster density in the coming weeks.
