PewDiePie has not held back in his recent critiques aimed at popular podcaster Joe Rogan, labeling him as “dumb” after sampling segments of his hit podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. This commentary was part of a broader discussion on the explosion of podcasting as a medium.
On November 28, the famous YouTuber released a video titled “Podcasts Have Gone Too Far” on his channel, where he examined the staggering growth of the podcasting landscape, which now boasts over 3.2 million shows. PewDiePie jestingly remarked, “There are too many podcasts—your grandma has a podcast, your janitor has a podcast.”
In his video, PewDiePie, alongside a friend, took aim at various podcasts, noting, “Anyone can have a podcast these days.” He specifically focused on Rogan’s podcast, admitting, “I had this epiphany that he’s the biggest podcast. I’ve never actually listened to him, so I tuned in to an episode. I realized, oh, he’s actually very dumb.”
He illustrated his point with a humorous analogy, describing Rogan’s style as that of a “caveman”bringing in experts to explain complex subjects, reflecting on a meme that encapsulated this view: “He brings in a scientist and says, ‘Explain fire to me.’ That’s basically it summarized.”

PewDiePie showcased a series of clips from Rogan’s show, including an interview with Donald Trump during the latter’s 2024 presidential campaign, as well as a compilation of moments where Rogan appeared to miss the punchline of jokes. “He’s a comedian, yet there’s a montage of him not getting jokes, and it’s super funny,” PewDiePie pointed out.
PewDiePie Reviews Other Podcasts
However, PewDiePie’s criticism wasn’t limited to Rogan. He also called out several other podcasts for various reasons, including the unnecessary sharing of personal information. A case in point was KSI’s revelation on the Sidemen’s Sidecast that he only showers once a week. “If you didn’t have a podcast, nobody would know this,” remarked PewDiePie.
He also touched upon the rise of “Alpha male” podcasts, noting, “I’ve never addressed them before, so I looked up what they talk about.” In response, his friend humorously quipped, “This is where you go to lose brain cells.”
PewDiePie commented on the overall increase in podcast popularity, stating, “It’s amusing because not everyone is interesting enough to host a podcast.” He also expressed concerns about the influence of podcasts on societal norms.
Even with ongoing criticisms, Joe Rogan remains at the forefront of the podcasting world. However, he has recently faced competition; he was briefly surpassed by the Kelce brothers’ NFL-centric show New Heights in January and later challenged by his guest Shawn Ryan in October.
