Netflix is set to release Rebel Ridge, a new thriller that has been compared to a combination of Reacher and First Blood, in 2024. Early reviews from critics have deemed it “fantastic”and it is highly anticipated as one of the best movies of that year.

If you, like myself, have been raised on classic action films such as First Blood, Man on Fire, The Fugitive, and even Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher, then you have a thrilling experience to look forward to: Rebel Ridge.
Helmed by Jeremy Saulnier, the same mastermind behind the critically acclaimed Blue Ruin and Green Room, this film centers on an ex-Marine (Aaron Pierre) who finds himself at odds with corrupt law enforcement in a small town. His only goal is to pay his cousin’s bail, but the authorities confiscate his funds and refuse to return them.
To all the Miami Vice fans, I am happy to share that the cast also includes Don Johnson as Chief Sandy Burnne, as well as AnnaSophia Robb (who you may remember from the Bridge to Terabithia flashback!) and David Denman from The Office.

Looking for a story about a man with a military background facing off against small-town criminals? This will satisfy your craving for First Blood. Not only is he physically strong, but he also possesses lethal abilities. If you’re awaiting the release of Reacher Season 3, this will serve as a suitable substitute.
