On February 6, a photography studio based in Paris issued a detailed statement on their official social media platform, addressing the controversy surrounding the release of photos featuring the couple of popular K-pop star Ok Taecyeon.
The studio clarified, “Last year, we captured these images without any knowledge of the subjects’ identities. We did not intend to invade their privacy. Until recently, we were unaware of Ok Taecyeon’s prominence in Korea. The couple scheduled the photoshoot as any regular clients would and did not request confidentiality. As is our practice, we planned to share the photos starting in April 2024. At no point during this process did we disclose his name.”

The recently circulated couple photos depict Ok Taecyeon kneeling, presenting a ring to his girlfriend, igniting speculation about a potential wedding.
In their statement, the photography studio continued, “We were taken aback by this situation. We have already apologized to both Ok Taecyeon and his girlfriend, and we extend our apologies publicly. Our intention was never to expose their relationship or show his girlfriend’s face. Once we realized what had occurred, we promptly removed the photos, but by that time, they had already been shared extensively. We did not distribute these images to anyone, nor do we plan to. We ask for your understanding. Without clients informing us, we cannot distinguish whether someone is a public figure in their home country. We genuinely apologize for this unintentional breach of privacy.”

Ok Taecyeon officially confirmed his relationship with his non-celebrity girlfriend in June 2020. The pair has been publicly dating for nearly five years; the couple’s photos taken in April last year were part of a celebration for his girlfriend’s birthday. In light of the arising marriage rumors, Ok Taecyeon’s agency, 51K, stated, “There are currently no plans for marriage.”
