Four years after their dating rumors first sparked, former EXO member Tao and former SM Rookies member Xu Yiyang have finally made their relationship official in the most heartwarming manner!
On July 14, Tao disclosed a major announcement and confessed his true score with Xu Yiyang.
Tao made waves on China’s social media platform, Weibo, when he shared multiple photos with his girlfriend and mentioned her official account. In his statement, he shocked the entire entertainment industry by expressing:

The public became aware of their relationship after photos and videos of their private date and meeting with their families were leaked. Despite facing criticism from sasaengs, Tao and Yiyang chose to keep their relationship private and remained silent about it for years. However, many fans expressed their well-wishes for their happiness.
In 2012, Tao debuted with EXO, but he departed from the group in 2015. Since then, he has been primarily active in the Greater China region. Xu Yiyang, who was first introduced as a trainee under SM Entertainment’s “SM Rookies”in 2016, has also returned to China and is now pursuing a career as a singer and actress.
The couple initially crossed paths at SM Entertainment in 2014. Four years later, they would reunite in China when Yiyang signed with Tao’s agency, L.TAO Ent, as an artist.
Despite their senior-junior dynamic, their roles shifted in 2020 due to Tao’s father falling ill. Yiyang provided unwavering support and stood by the male figure during the most difficult period of his life, particularly when his father passed away.
Inevitably, they developed strong feelings for one another and by 2021, their bond had grown even stronger.
Despite Yiyang’s initial resistance, she ultimately decided to confess the truth after three years. She was determined to protect Tao from being scolded, but her boyfriend convinced her that it was better to reveal their hidden relationship in order to spare Yiyang from any potential suffering.
