Pierrot Launches New Studio Pierrot Films to Expand Creative Opportunities

Studio Pierrot has built a strong reputation over the years. Established in May 1979 under Yuji Nunokawa, the studio has produced several significant series in the anime industry. From popular titles like Naruto and Bleach to Black Clover, Pierrot is a well-known name. Recently, reports have emerged that the studio is launching a new division aimed at producing anime akin to those created by MAPPA Studios.

Yoshihiko Tominaga, a seasoned producer in the anime field, announced that Pierrot will introduce a new branch called Pierrot Films.

“This studio will work on shows based on manga for adults as well as original works. Our next season of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is planned to be a Pierrot Films production,” Tominaga shared. “I think this title is aimed at audiences who enjoyed Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen, thus we hope to deliver top-quality animation and storytelling shortly, enhancing the studio’s brand value.”

This update has certainly caught the attention of Studio Pierrot fans. While the company boasts a large collection of shows, its current roster has fewer titles than usual. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War remains one of the studio’s major ongoing projects, alongside other intellectual properties like Kingdom. With Black Clover on hiatus, Pierrot is eager to expand its creative horizons. If Pierrot Films succeeds in diversifying its productions, it will significantly enhance the studio’s offerings.

Tominaga confirmed that Bleach is the inaugural project of Pierrot Films. He noted that incorporating “Films” in the title aligns well with Bleach, thereby enriching the animation experience. This move also commemorates the third cour, signifying a fresh perspective for the studio.

Key points to note include:

  • Pierrot’s new division, Pierrot Films, is committed to creating ‘extremely high-quality anime’ specifically for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3, aimed at providing fans with a superior experience. Audiences can anticipate a cinematic feel in Season 3, further elevating production standards.
  • In light of Bleach’s success, Studio Pierrot is shifting to a seasonal release format for its series, which will allow for better scheduling and enhanced production quality. This new division is focused on producing anime that meets the highest quality standards.

Fans are excited about the recent updates regarding the animation quality of Season 3 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, set to debut on October 5, 2024. The upcoming installment has been praised for its animation quality, and the third segment promises to enhance it even further.

In a recent interview with mensnonno, Tominaga discussed his work in creating the comedy series Osomatsu-san, as well as the latest trends in the anime industry and adaptations.

Pierrot’s new division, Pierrot Films, aims to rival top-tier productions by focusing on creating cinematic anime. Fans can look forward to Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 being produced with even higher quality than previous installments.
