The quest for the legendary treasure One Piece and the prestigious title of the Pirate King has officially commenced following Vegapunk’s intriguing message. Here’s what we know about the immense power that awaits.
“Wealth, fame, and power,” a line from the anime series’ opening monologue, remains significant to this day. Those venturing out to sea in pursuit of the esteemed treasure One Piece are driven by these three aspirations, along with the dream of becoming the Pirate King.
This pursuit also encompasses Monkey D. Luffy, the story’s main character, who shares this dream with many other pirates. However, Luffy is on the brink of achieving this goal, as he already possesses a copy of three Road Poneglyphs.
Once Luffy encounters the Man Marked by Flames and discovers the fourth Road Poneglyph, he can set sail for Laugh Tale. Yet, this won’t conclude the narrative. In his message, Vegapunk mentions that the individual who finds the One Piece will gain that “power.” But what exactly is this power he refers to?
The One Piece Grants the Pirate King Dominance Over Ancient Weapons
As explained by a Japanese translator on Twitter/X, “In Japanese, demonstrative pronouns like ‘その – that’ can be ambiguous and can refer to a wide range of things. In this case, it likely pertains to the power of the Ancient Weapons.”
In essence, Koala interprets it as… ‘the individual who discovers the One Piece will also obtain control over the Ancient Weapons.’ However, the accuracy of Koala’s interpretation is yet to be validated.
The three Ancient Weapons are formidable artifacts that obliterated the world over 800 years ago. Vegapunk asserts that the Great War is far from over and that these powers will resurface. Currently, the story has revealed information about Poseidon and Pluton. Shirahoshi, often referred to as Poseidon, is incapable of utilizing her abilities at will. Conversely, Pluton remains concealed in Wano, and its usage is a mystery.
The nature and abilities of Uranus are still unspecified. It is also uncertain whether Uranus is a living entity like Poseidon or a constructed object similar to Pluton. Thus, while the series has introduced the Ancient Weapons, mastery over them is yet to be achieved.
It is theorized that Laugh Tale harbors the genuine secrets of the past, potentially holding the key to wielding the Ancient Weapons. Luffy’s ultimate ambition can only be realized upon ascending to the Pirate King. Therefore, once he acquires the “power” after discovering the One Piece, a conflict will ignite that will reverberate throughout the world.

However, beyond Lodestar lies Laugh Tale, where Roger left behind his treasure. To uncover its location, one must find the four Road Poneglyphs. Each Poneglyph provides the coordinates of a designated area. By charting these four locations on a map, the intersection point will reveal the whereabouts of Laugh Tale.
