Pizza Hut trolls rival by becoming “Official Sponsor of Domino’s”

Two of the top pizza companies in the United States have left customers puzzled with their latest campaigns, as Pizza Hut chose to mock Domino’s in a significant manner.

Pizza Hut UK has teamed up with Iris Worldwide, a global marketing agency, to launch a clever new campaign that references one of its major competitors.

Despite declaring themselves as “The Official Sponsor of Domino’s,”Pizza Hut is not referring to the Domino’s you have in mind.

The eye-catching advertisement serves as a representation of Pizza Hut’s official partnership with the 2024 World Championship Domino Tournament (WCDT).

The focus of the summer of sport in 2024 will be on promoting healthy competition and fostering a sense of togetherness. Our latest campaign effectively embodies this spirit.

“Grant Hunter, Chief Creative Officer at Iris Worldwide, announced that Pizza Hut is the official partner of the 2024 World Championship Domino Tournament. This partnership brings a sense of swagger back to the brand and serves as a playful reminder that while the UK may be focused on the Euros, Pizza Hut is also front and centre in another global championship.”

Following a brand reset, Pizza Hut has set out to revamp their tone of voice, adopting a more lighthearted and playful approach towards their audiences.

To celebrate the occasion, Pizza Hut is also launching three new flavors, which include:

  • Chicken Fajitas
  • Pepperoni & ‘Nduja
  • The Spicy GOAT

The campaign will also feature fresh content from popular social media influencers, who will be showcasing unboxings of the latest products on their platforms. This serves the purpose of highlighting Pizza Hut’s cultural relevance and increasing awareness of the new offerings.

Recently, both pizza chains have gained widespread attention due to their cost-saving options for customers. In May, Pizza Hut introduced the My Hut Box, allowing customers to purchase their favorite items at a discounted price.

Subsequently, Domino’s announced that they would be teaming up with UberEats to offer free pizza throughout the entire summer.
