On April 25 in the afternoon, Korean media and international social media were abuzz as Min Hee-jin, also known as the “mother of NewJeans”and CEO of ADOR, held a press conference to formally declare her position on the ongoing feud between ADOR and HYBE Labels.
During the lengthy 2-hour press conference, numerous developments and revelations were made, sparking interest among netizens. They were particularly intrigued by the sudden rise of a K-pop song on the charts, as it was deemed somewhat relevant to the event.
In particular, the song “Drama”by aespa was initially ranked #36 on the MelOn chart, but following Min Hee-jin’s press conference, the popular song by the SM girl group quickly climbed to #22.
During the press conference, Min Hee-jin surprised everyone by exposing a statement from Bang Si-hyuk where he asked her, “Can you trample on aespa?”
It is important to mention that the HYBE chairman posed this question on the same day that aespa received both the Rookie and Daesang awards at the 2021 AAA Awards.
It appears that the inclusion of aespa, along with the aptly titled song, has led to a resurgence of “Drama”.
Prior to the recent ranking update, aespa’s “Drama”held the position of #36.
Despite initially ranking lower, the position of #22 has been attained after Min Hee-jin’s press conference.
