Embark Studios has announced that their game, Arc Raiders, is currently facing challenges due to ongoing, coordinated DDoS attacks. As the team designs solutions, they have also released a hotfix to rectify several unintended changes resulting from the recent update.

In a communication posted on their official Discord server, the studio mentioned that both Arc Raiders and another title, THE FINALS, have been targeted. Mitigation efforts are currently in progress, with the studio actively addressing the situation.

“The strike team is making substantial progress in formulating mitigations and solutions, although the attacks remain persistent at this time, ” the statement confirmed.

In addition to addressing server issues, Embark deployed a patch on January 28, aiming to correct various problems that arose from the Highwinds update.

Key Fixes: Reviving Fire Rates and Loot Adjustments

A highlight of the hotfix was the restoration of weapon fire rates that had been unintentionally diminished by the last update. Embark emphasized that this change was not part of their planned adjustments.

“We discovered a bug that inadvertently decreased the rate of fire for some weapons, which was never intended, ” stated the developers, who committed to providing comprehensive patch notes for all gameplay adjustments.

The affected weapons included the Kettle and the Venator, which players had noted for their altered performance.

The update also remedied issues surrounding certain Raider Token cosmetics, which were vanishing from the customization menu if players had not purchased them. Additionally, it fixed a localization problem where Ukrainian text appeared inappropriately during gameplay.

However, Embark clarified that the slower looting speed introduced in version 1.13.0 was a deliberate design choice rather than an error. The developers confirmed a rebalancing of how quickly items are revealed during the looting process.

According to the team, the loot reveal speeds prior to update 1.13.0 were also unintentional. Nevertheless, players who have acquired the Looter’s Instincts perk will continue to enjoy a faster item reveal compared to those without it.

As Arc Raiders navigates these server instabilities due to the ongoing DDoS attacks, Embark has promised to keep the community updated as their contingency measures progress.
