In an exciting update for fans of the Call of Duty franchise, Treyarch’s Matt Scronce has announced a series of significant changes to perks ahead of the anticipated multiplayer beta for Black Ops 7.

The multiplayer beta has solidified its role as a critical element of the pre-release process for Call of Duty titles. These beta weekends have become essential for players eager to experience and evaluate potential weapon dominance in the game’s evolving meta.

This year, Black Ops 7 is set to raise the bar, introducing an engaging beta experience starting on October 2. Notably, this beta will also feature the Zombies mode for the first time, although it is expected that players will primarily hone in on the traditional multiplayer gameplay.

Key Updates: Perk Slot Changes

As part of the latest adjustments, Matt Scronce, the Design Director at Treyarch, confirmed that three perks have undergone slot changes:

  • Dexterity has moved from Perk 1 to Perk 3
  • Scavenger has transitioned from Perk 2 to Perk 1
  • Looper has shifted from Perk 3 to Perk 2

Scronce conveyed this update in a statement on September 25, highlighting their commitment to player feedback throughout the beta phase. He stated, “We pulled the trigger on a few Perk changes for the upcoming Black Ops 7 Beta based on feedback received this week. We will, of course, gather data and feedback throughout the Beta and make additional adjustments for launch. Thanks!”

This initial round of feedback stemmed from a playtest involving several professional players from the Call of Duty League, as well as insights from former pro Christian ‘Parasite’ Duarte on X (previously Twitter).

Additionally, Scronce has actively engaged with the community concerning various aspects of the game, including the reintroduction of health bars, the speed of the Time to Kill (TTK), and potential map additions post-launch for Black Ops 7.

In an exclusive discussion with CharlieIntel, Scronce elaborated on why the popular Pick 10 system has not returned in this release, alleviating fans’ hopes for its comeback.
