In Destiny 2, Void weapons are set to receive a significant makeover in the upcoming Episode Heresy, particularly due to a substantial enhancement to the Destabilizing Rounds perk. This change is poised to make it a standout choice, even surpassing the current favorite, Incandescent.
Bungie’s recent This Week at Bungie (TWID) announcement, detailing the changes set for February 4, reveals the following benefits for the Destabilizing Rounds:
- Grants volatile rounds for 2 seconds for any targets hit by the initial final blow’s volatile burst.
- Reduces the internal cooldown from 4 seconds to a more responsive 1.5 seconds.
The reduction in cooldown timing allows for Destabilizing Rounds to activate more than twice as often, a change that players have long anticipated.
More excitingly, the perk’s new mechanic can trigger the Volatile Rounds buff upon striking a target. This transformation not only enhances damage but also provides the capability to effectively stun Barrier Champions, increasing its combat utility.

It is important to highlight that these effects stack with artifact perks, enabling a single Legendary weapon to potentially stun multiple Champions. This flexibility allows players to diversify their loadouts and adapt strategies more efficiently.
Comparing Destabilizing Rounds and Incandescent
Currently, in Episode Revenant, Incandescent reigns as the ultimate add-clear perk within the game. With each weapon kill, it activates a Solar explosion, generating Scorch stacks that inflict significant damage upon the enemies.
However, the enhanced version of Destabilizing Rounds promises to provide an even more formidable alternative. Beyond offering a reliable method for stunning Champions, it also applies Volatile status to adversaries, resulting in explosions that boast over a 50% increase in size compared to Incandescent.
While the brief cooldown between activations remains a consideration, its 1.5-second duration is manageable, especially during tougher missions where enemy elimination rates may be lower. Therefore, this cooldown will likely have limited impact in high-difficulty settings.
Ultimately, it is essential to recognize that these perks serve distinct purposes and do not directly compete. Solar build enthusiasts will continue to gravitate towards Incandescent, while those favoring Void builds will effectively harness Destabilizing Rounds. The key takeaway is that players should aim to incorporate top-tier PvE weapons capable of leveraging both perks, rather than solely focusing on one.
