A remarkable achievement has emerged from the challenging world of Elden Ring, where a dedicated player succeeded in defeating all 207 bosses without delivering a single offensive strike. This accomplishment highlights the extreme challenges that the game provides to its players.
Elden Ring is renowned for its difficulty, presenting trials that test both skill and perseverance. Iconic bosses, such as Malenia, are legendary for their tough battle mechanics, often pushing even the most seasoned players to their limits. While many struggle just to complete the game, some audacious gamers embark on even stricter runs, finding ways to elevate their gaming experience by imposing self-restrictions.
A Unique Challenge: No Attacks, Just Dodges
This unprecedented feat was accomplished by the talented streamer and YouTuber Skumnut, who aimed to conduct an all-bosses run that maximized the challenge by eliminating his capacity to attack. Eschewing his sword and denying himself the use of Summons, he found an innovative tactic to defeat his foes.
Skumnut relied solely on avoidance techniques, leveraging the Briar Set armor, which is designed with thorns that inflict minor damage to enemies during dodge rolls. This clever strategy allowed him to inflect damage passively while maintaining a defensive posture. Additionally, he utilized the Rupture Crystal Tear, providing a single offensive burst that detonates on impact, although it could only be activated once per boss encounter.
Skumnut meticulously documented each battle in an extensive video on his YouTube channel. It was a time-consuming journey, with some bosses taking upwards of 30 minutes to defeat—such as the Putrid Avatar, one of the comparatively easier adversaries encountered early in the game.
Remarkably, he completed his grueling challenge, vanquishing the final boss, the Elden Beast, in just over 57 hours. This timing surpasses that of many players who utilize the full range of abilities available to them, and it is even more commendable considering it encompasses all DLC bosses as well.
Even three years after its initial release, players continue to pioneer unique challenges within Elden Ring. Nonetheless, attempting such a challenge is not advisable for everyone, as it demands both exceptional skill and an immense commitment of time.
