In an exciting development for fans of both gaming and television, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has introduced a remarkable crossover with the beloved Netflix series Stranger Things. This unique collaboration allows players to explore the eerie town of Hawkins, Indiana, in a way that has never been experienced before.

While Microsoft Flight Simulator is renowned for its stunning realism and authentic flight experience, it has embraced unconventional collaborations in the past. These include a partnership with Dune that lets players fly an Ornithopter over the vast desert planet of Arrakis, and a tie-in with Top Gun featuring iconic aircraft from the blockbuster film.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft unveiled the exciting free expansion centered on the quirky character, Murray Bauman, and his venture known as Hawkins Heli-Tours. This tour offers players a chance to navigate the skies above crucial locations from the series.

Players will take control of the UH-1H “Huey” helicopter as they embark on a journey to witness iconic sites from the show, including the Starcourt Mall, Hawkins Middle School, and the mysterious Hawkins National Laboratory.

The expansion includes five distinct missions with themes like “shady supply ops, ” “close-call chases, ” and “high-stakes rescues.” While specifics remain under wraps, previews hint at scenarios involving the heroic efforts to save residents from the rifts created by Vecna, particularly relevant after the events of Season 4.

Once players have successfully navigated these challenges, they can enjoy the richly detailed map that boasts over 40 recognizable locations from the series, including the unsettling abode of Victor Creel.

As audiences gear up for the release of Stranger Things Season 5—the final season—with new episodes premiering on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, this innovative appearance in Microsoft Flight Simulator is part of a broader marketing strategy. Other cross-properties, such as a comprehensive Upside Down map incorporated into Fortnite, further capitalize on the series’ continued popularity.
