Fortnite fans are expressing their dissatisfaction with a recent adjustment that limits the use of various emotes during gameplay, creating considerable disappointment within the community.
The game is well-known for its extensive catalog of emotes, which include everything from original dance moves crafted by Epic Games to those stemming from popular collaborations. Players frequently rely on these animations to communicate feelings—whether it’s celebrating a hard-fought victory or playfully teasing opponents. However, not all changes to this beloved feature have been positively received.
The community has been vocal about concerns regarding specific emotes being misused for suggestive behavior, particularly pointing fingers at emotes like Party Hips. In light of this, Epic Games has decided to limit the usage of certain emotes under specific circumstances, which has sparked backlash from fans.
Community Outrage Over Emote Restrictions
Players took to social media to voice their frustrations, noting that emotes like Bring It Around and Ride The Pony can no longer be performed when players are in close proximity to others using the Poki and Party Hips emotes. This change was highlighted in posts during the recent v37.10 update.

Under the new rules, selecting an emote may cause the character to either not perform the action or simply shake their head, which is a significant shift from previous functionalities.
As of now, Epic Games has not provided an official comment regarding these changes. However, discussions on Reddit reveal that many players feel the “Freaky”emotes have been unfairly curtailed.

Many players are criticizing the update, viewing it as a form of censorship. Comments range from suggestions that such restrictions might be acceptable in family-friendly game modes but shouldn’t affect teen-rated content to expressions of disappointment about losing amusing interactions with friends. For instance, one user noted that the fun of mimicking other emotes has been greatly diminished.

Some community members suspect that this adjustment is just a ‘band-aid fix’ and are confident that players will eventually discover alternative ways to engage in similar expressions by adapting with other emotes.
While some fans are hopeful that Epic Games will reconsider this decision, only time will reveal whether further changes will be implemented to address player concerns.
