Fans of DC Comics are in for an exciting surprise as Superman, Aquaman, and other beloved heroes may soon return, not on the big screen, but within the highly awaited Injustice 3. This revelation comes on the heels of an unintentional leak by an artist associated with the project.

It’s hard to believe that nine years have passed since the last entry in the Injustice series, a franchise that brilliantly fused the intense combat of Mortal Kombat with iconic DC superheroes. Over time, the Injustice games have amassed a substantial following, particularly amidst the fluctuating quality of recent DC films and the generally well-received DC television shows.

Thanks to the recent slip-up from an artist, it appears that the Injustice 3 project is indeed in the pipeline at NetherRealm Studios.

Leaked Information Confirms Development of Injustice 3

According to an article from MP1st, an artist’s resume published on social media hints at their involvement in this exciting undertaking. In addition to details about upcoming projects like Hogwarts Legacy 2, the mention of “Injustice 3 TBD” has generated significant interest.

This mention, though brief, serves as a pivotal clue that Injustice 3 is progressing actively. Interestingly, this isn’t the first indication of new developments; previous leaks have suggested the game is indeed in the works. In February 2025, it was reported that director James Gunn was negotiating with NetherRealm for a new DC title. Ahead of that, Ed Boon, co-creator of both Mortal Kombat and Injustice, hinted at an upcoming project, labeling it “I3 or MK12.” With Mortal Kombat 12 launching in 2023, it leaves Injustice 3 as the clear next contender.

Adding more fuel to the fire, a respected leaker suggested in May 2025 that the closure of MultiVersus was a significant issue for fans, implying that a new Injustice game was on the horizon.

Given the ongoing discussions and multiple leaks surrounding Injustice 3, anticipation is building that players will soon have the chance to embody iconic characters like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and, of course, Killer Croc once more.
