The commencement of the inaugural split of the LTA North (previously known as the LCS) is just around the corner. The title hints at a significant transformation in North America’s premier League of Legends circuit. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this exciting new season.

As the 2024 off-season unfolds, the competitive landscape of League of Legends has been anything but stable. Despite the recent Worlds 2024 breaking viewership records, a monumental shift across all competitive LoL tiers led to the disbanding of teams and a complete overhaul of regional leagues.

However, there’s plenty for North American League of Legends enthusiasts to anticipate. Notably, Disguised has secured a position in a first-tier league, while various teams are revamping their rosters to challenge the dominance of the top LCS contenders. Additionally, the introduction of international competition between North and South regions adds a fresh competitive element.

A highlight of the upcoming season is the *First Stand*, a new international event designed to showcase the best teams from each region in head-to-head confrontations. Within the LTA framework, only one team will advance from either the North or South conferences to represent their region.

Transitioning from LCS to LTA North

As part of the comprehensive reforms set for 2025, the LCS has been officially dissolved in favor of the LTA North. This new league features 76 teams that were formerly part of the LCS, with NRG formally exiting. In addition, LYON has been introduced as a representative from South America, while Disguised Toast fills a special guest role.

Notably, FlyQuest emerged as the last champion of the LCS.

There’s some complexity regarding the participation of 100 Thieves in this new league format, prompting questions about how and where to watch this year’s matches; rest assured, the action will now unfold under the LTA North moniker.

Upcoming LTA North Winter 2025 Schedule

This initial split promises to be much more compact relative to Splits 2 and 3, encapsulating only a handful of weeks of intense competition leading up to the first major clash between the LTA North and South. The format stipulates that a team must secure victories in two Best of 3 sets to remain in contention—failure to do so will result in elimination.

The final two Sunday match days of the split will feature an additional Best of 1 (BO1) match, specifically for seeding purposes.
