Nintendo has officially implemented new pricing for its original Switch family of consoles, effective August 3, 2025. This change raises the price of legacy hardware and accessories across the United States, marking a significant shift in their pricing strategy.

The revised costs are as follows: the standard Nintendo Switch is now priced at $339.99, while the Switch OLED has increased to $399.99. The more affordable Switch Lite also saw a price bump to $229.99. Additionally, certain accessories, including the Joy-Con 2 and Sound Clock Alarmo, have been affected by these price adjustments.

This event is noteworthy as it signifies the first price hike for the original Nintendo Switch lineup since its initial launch in 2017. In a statement, Nintendo attributed the changes to evolving “market conditions, ”while notably omitting any reference to the tariffs imposed during the Trump administration as a contributing factor.

This updated pricing closely aligns the original Switch and its OLED counterpart with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, which is set at $449.99 and boasts significantly enhanced hardware capabilities.

Detailed Price Changes

Here’s a comprehensive list of the new prices for all affected Nintendo products:

  • Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarm – $44.99
  • Nintendo Switch – $339.99
  • Nintendo Switch OLED Model – $399.99
  • Nintendo Switch Lite – $229.99
  • Joy-Con 2 (L/R) – $84.99

As of this writing, consumers may still find the original Switch and OLED models at their former prices from various U. S.retailers, including Target. The retailer had initially updated its prices to match Nintendo’s official figures on August 2 but subsequently reverted them, potentially due to the timing of the changes, although this remains unconfirmed.

It’s important to note that these revisions do not apply to the Nintendo Switch 2 and its associated games. However, Nintendo has indicated that “price adjustments”for these new platforms may occur in the future, contingent upon ongoing market influences.
