Opening the Map in Hollow Knight: Silksong

If you’re embarking on your journey in Hollow Knight: Silksong, navigating the intricate landscapes can be quite challenging. The vast chambers and twisting pathways may lead to confusion, and it becomes apparent that having a map is essential almost immediately. However, acquiring one might take some time.

Below is a comprehensive guide on how to find and utilize the map in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Accessing the Map in Silksong

To access your map, simply press LB on your game controller or the Tab key on your keyboard. For an overview of the world map, use the M key or the back button. Initially, however, your map will be blank, and you will need to purchase it from Shakra, a singing bug located in the game.

Locating the Map in Silksong

To obtain the map, head to the top left corner of the Bone Marrow region, which intersects with the Bone Bottom area. You can identify your proximity to Shakra by listening for her melodic tune, where she sings “Lai Lai Lai”.

Follow the sound of the singing bug and engage her in conversation. Shakra will offer several items for sale:

Map – 40 Rosary Beads
Marrow Map – 50 Rosary Beads
Quill – 50 Rosary Beads
Compass – 70 Rosary Beads

To effectively use the map, you’ll need to purchase the map along with either the Marrow Map or the Quill. The basic map starts off blank, while the Marrow Map provides an outline of the Marrow Region. The Quill is essential for marking the areas you’ve explored. Additionally, acquiring the Compass will be crucial for orientation. In total, these items will require 210 Rosary Beads.

You may also consider buying Bench Pins and Shell Markers for 60 and 40 Rosary Beads, respectively. These enhance your navigation by helping mark benches and points of interest on your map.

Equipping the Compass

Simply purchasing the Compass won’t suffice; you must also equip it. Visit a bench to sit down, then access your menu to equip the Compass from your items. Once equipped, you will be able to see Hornet’s location on the map, making your exploration significantly easier.
