A recent Taylor Swift-themed event in Orlando, Florida has generated significant buzz, particularly for its unfortunate resemblance to the infamous Fyre Festival. The controversy arises from scammers who misrepresented themselves as representatives of one of Swift’s backup dancers, creating chaos for local fans.
With her status as an international pop icon, it’s no surprise that a Tiki bar in the heart of Orlando created ‘Taylor Weekend 2025, ’ promising a weekend full of festivities from October 3-5. The event’s promotional material noted in fine print that it was an “unofficial event, ” yet prominently featured a supposed appearance by Kam Saunders, a backup dancer for Swift.
The Lake Mary Pub and Tiki Bar advertised the weekend as a vibrant gathering filled with music and entertainment, including a special lunch, a performance, and a highly anticipated meet and greet with Saunders. Fans eager to join in the celebration quickly purchased tickets, prices reaching as high as $300 for an access pass that included the meet and greet, while a general admission ticket was priced at $225.
Scammers Targeting Taylor Swift Fans
To the shock of many, Kam Saunders later took to his Instagram stories to inform fans that he was not connected to the event in any way. He stated, “I will not be in Orlando for any of the aforementioned things. I am so sorry to any of you who have paid your money with such high hopes of my being in attendance.”His warning further urged fans not to trust events featuring his name unless he personally announced his involvement.

In response to the escalating situation, the Taylor Weekend Events Instagram account issued a statement claiming they were equally surprised by Saunders’ disassociation. They insisted that a “paid deposit and contract”were secured, a narrative echoed by the Tiki Bar’s official Facebook page.
Following these revelations, the Lake Mary Pub announced the cancellation of Taylor Weekend 2025, explaining that they were duped by individuals posing as Saunders’ management team. Affected ticket buyers were subsequently refunded through Eventbrite.
Tiffany Jeffords, one of the event’s organizers, disclosed to WFTV9 that she had incurred a hefty $12, 000 deposit for the prospective appearance of Saunders, alongside an additional $10, 000 in other fees. Furthermore, the Lake Mary Pub revealed they are currently cooperating with law enforcement to investigate the incident, as they believe Jeffords may have been specifically targeted by the scammers.

The fallout from the Taylor Weekend fiasco has spread rapidly across social media platforms like TikTok, reaching local news outlets eager to tell the story of those who were left disappointed. One attendee, Sheli Cordero, expressed her condolences for the bar and event organizers.“I feel horrible. I’m like, ‘These people got scammed. Or did we get scammed?’”she reflected, acknowledging the lasting impact this event might have on the venue’s reputation.
@swiftieversenews13 I do be nosy… #taylorswift #swifttok #taylorweekend2025 #kamsaunders #swiftie
As of now, Saunders has not commented further on the unfolding disaster surrounding Taylor Weekend 2025. However, this incident is not the first of its kind in fan-organized events, reminiscent of another major blunder in February 2024 involving a Willy Wonka-themed attraction that failed to deliver on its extravagant promises. As such occurrences continue to surface, the need for vigilance among event attendees is paramount to avoid falling victim to similar scams in the future.
