Drang, renowned as the quintessential sidearm in Destiny 2, has made its triumphant return, boasting a new set of perks in the Ash & Iron expansion. Unsurprisingly, it has quickly established itself as a staple within the game’s competitive sandbox.

This resurgence can be attributed not only to Drang’s formidable capabilities but also its impressive compatibility with a once-neglected Exotic weapon, Sturm. As a Hand Cannon dating back to the early days of Destiny 2, Sturm gains substantial advantages when used alongside Drang, thanks to the Together Forever perk, which provides significant temporary damage boosts following a kill.

Whether you opt to synergize with Sturm or prefer to wield Drang independently, both approaches are valid. However, your ideal perk roll will largely depend on your primary focus—whether it’s Player versus Environment (PvE) or Player versus Player (PvP).

Optimal Drang Builds for PvE and PvP

When it comes to PvE content, any weapon that rolls with Heal Clip and Incandescent is worth serious consideration, and Drang is no exception. While it may not deliver the overwhelming damage typical of a Rocket Launcher, it pairs excellently with specific Rocket-Assisted weapons, such as Mint Retrograde.

To maximize Drang’s performance in PvE scenarios, focus on enhancing its Reload Speed and Handling through the appropriate Masterwork and by equipping the Arrowhead Brake mod.

For those leaning towards PvP, there are quite a few viable options. In the first perk slot, Moving Target offers a substantial boost to Aim Assistance, making it a superior choice given the lack of competitive alternatives. As for the second perk, Eye of the Storm and Master of Arms both provide great benefits, but my testing favored the former for its significant accuracy enhancement.

Beyond these primary perks, it is essential to prioritize other perks that enhance Range to ensure optimal performance in all encounters.

Where to Acquire Drang

The reissued version of Drang can now be obtained through various activities in Solo and Fireteam settings, as well as Crucible Ops accessible via The Edge of Fate’s Portal system.

Engaging in missions or activities within these categories will yield a chance to drop Drang. To facilitate your farming efforts, prioritize tasks that designate the weapon as a featured reward, ensuring at least one guaranteed drop from successful completions.
