Minecraft is set to introduce a charming lineup of baby mobs in its forthcoming update, offering players miniature versions of beloved animals to discover and collect within their worlds.
Whether it’s the addition of new creatures like the Nautilus and the Sniffer or the reworking of existing ones such as the quirky Happy Ghast and the Zombie Horse, Minecraft consistently evolves. Each update brings fresh content, and this announcement is shaping up to be one of the cutest yet—arguably even more delightful than the Happy Ghast!
Introducing the New Baby Mobs
The upcoming update will unveil a total of eight new baby mobs, each designed with unique sounds to enhance the immersive experience for players:

- Wolf Pups (available in nine variants)
- Kittens (with eleven variants)
- Piglets (featuring three variants)
- Calves
- Baby Chickens (with three color variants)
- Baby Ocelots
- Lambs
- Baby Rabbits
How to Spawn Baby Mobs
To obtain a baby mob in Minecraft, players can use a spawn egg on an adult mob. This method will create a baby that matches the adult’s variant. Alternatively, breeding adult mobs together is a great way to produce adorable baby mobs without needing a spawn egg.
Release Timeline for Baby Mobs
As of now, these baby mobs are not yet fully integrated into the main version of Minecraft; they are available exclusively in Java’s Snapshot or the Bedrock previews/betas. Although an official release date hasn’t been confirmed, it’s anticipated that the next major update will roll out in March, following the typical three-month interval between updates.
For those interested in trying out the Snapshot, simply access your Minecraft Launcher, activate Snapshots in the Installations tab, and enjoy! Bedrock players can download the Minecraft Preview from the launcher, create a new world, and immerse themselves in the adorable new mobs.
