Super Louis 64, a popular YouTuber, Twitch streamer, and TikTok creator, has launched an innovative app that allows gamers to control their in-game characters through physical exercise. This groundbreaking application not only promotes fitness but also transforms traditional gaming into an engaging and healthy activity.
To get started with this app, players will require a Bluetooth adapter and a pair of Joy-Con controllers compatible with the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the game Ring Fit will appreciate that these controllers are quite adept at tracking motion, especially when fitted within a leg strap accessory that’s essential for this setup.
Using the application, aptly named Joy-Cardio, players must first strap a leg accessory around their thigh and insert one Joy-Con inside. This program is designed to detect the user’s movements above a designated threshold, effectively translating them into in-game actions, such as pressing the ‘W’ key to move forward.
To facilitate the gaming experience, both Joy-Cons must connect to the player’s PC. This straightforward process allows gaming sessions to double as effective workouts. According to Louis, he can work up quite a sweat using his exercise bike while playing Mario Kart World.
ITS DONE! Joy-Cardio ver 0.1 is out and you can use it now on PC to play games by literally exercising! With a pair of Joy-Cons you can turn your exercise bike or treadmill into a silly controller for games. Walk or bike IRL to move in-game! pic.twitter.com/6wZcuKLtn6

Joy-Cardio offers versatility by allowing users to engage with two types of cardio equipment: a stationary bike or a treadmill. While the app is currently limited to these options, Louis has hinted at expanding to additional equipment in future updates.
Moreover, players can adjust their exercise intensity based on how vigorous they wish to play. The higher the exercise level set in the app, the more effort required—accelerating walking, running, or biking speeds to meet the app’s movement detection criteria.
Revolutionizing Gaming Through Physical Fitness
At present, Joy-Cardio is exclusively available for Windows systems, lacking support for Mac or Linux platforms. Although players can utilize the app on other consoles, this involves extra steps and the need for an input converter to bridge PC inputs with console gaming. Additionally, compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons is not yet available, but Louis is working toward this improvement in future updates.

Looking ahead, Louis aims for Joy-Cardio to emulate Xbox controllers rather than functioning solely as a PC keyboard. He is also developing a ‘boxing mode’ for players of fighting games seeking a more immersive experience beyond traditional arcade controls.
Super Louis 64’s approach isn’t unique; other influencers have explored creative gaming methods, such as Twitch streamer Perrikaryal, who famously defeated a boss in Elden Ring using only her brain activity, monitored through an EEG device that interpreted her thought signals into game commands.
