A Pokémon Go player has revealed how fans can capture these 5-star Raid bosses without even needing to make a great throw.
In Pokémon Go, many fans already know that 5-Star Raid bosses are tough. You need the right counters, powerful Pokémon, and enough teammates to really take them down. If you are lucky enough to do this, then you are instantly faced with a different problem, that of capturing the boss for your own Pokédex.
Many will attempt to use an excellent throw to capture the elusive Pokémon, while others will throw as many berries as possible to improve their chances. Now, one player has discovered a key method to capture the boss without needing a great throw.
Pokémon Go player shows how to capture a raid boss without using an excellent throw
Sharing his discovery on Reddit, a Pokémon Go player highlighted how other players can capture raid bosses without the hard throw.

“What you see is that the most important things you can do, in order of importance, are: Use a Golden Framby Berry. Always. Obtain Bonus Balls. You get more for raiding with friends, teammates, and quickly defeating the boss. At 18, it’s as good as a second Golden Framby Berry on your last Ball. Curve Throw… Throw the Ball on the smallest circle you can reliably reach… Improve your medals.”
Following these instructions will give players “between a 27.8% and 34.7% chance” on the last roll, and given that they use this technique consistently, they should catch the boss by their last Ball.
Essentially, as the poster explains, “consistently landing Super rolls on Raid Bosses is more important than occasionally hitting excellent ones if you miss the circle the other times.”
The technique is widely used by many veteran players, and has often proven successful, even if fans didn’t know the math behind it: “I loved every word of that! THANKS! I certainly don’t make great throws all the time. But I captured 4/6 Thundurus. I didn’t know any of these tricks or math, but I knew it was possible.”
Others took to the comments to post their own ideas about increasing the odds: “You forgot the ‘pretend you don’t mind him getting into the Ball’ method,”one user joked.
While pretending not to care about capture may not have specific ramifications, super throws certainly do, and could help you on your next raid.
