Players Demand Medallion Visibility Overhaul in Fortnite

Medallions are making a return in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, but players are hoping that Epic Games will change the feature’s main drawback.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 was huge for Epic Games, as the game introduced three new modes for players — Rocket Racing, LEGO Fortnite, and Festival. It also introduced new gameplay elements, such as weapon attachments and more.

One of the new features was medallions, unique items that players could collect to gain specific buffs. Season 1 saw them offer a shield proportional to the amount carried by a player, opening chests, and buffs against automated AI. On the other hand, Season 2 medallions offer unique buffs corresponding to the theme of Greek mythology.

However, their return has fans calling for an improvement to the medallion’s main drawback, the marking on the minimap.

Fortnite Players Want Medallion Visibility Updates

The trade-off for accumulating medallions is that they mark your player’s general location on the minimap for the entire lobby to see with a large golden circle.

However, a main problem players encounter is that the circle itself is quite difficult to see, especially given that the minimap is colorful enough for the medallion circles to blend into the background.

It’s kind of absurd how hard it is to see medallion circles sometimes, they need to be made way more visible. byu/ExitNo7778 inFortNiteBR

This problem was highlighted by a post on the Fortnite subreddit, with one player calling it “absurd”how difficult it is to see them while campaigning for changes to be made.

Many agreed with the author’s point of view. “All right. It’s also hard to see them in the Olympus area too, being all yellowish,” one player responded, pointing out the problem of similar colors overlapping on the mini-map.

Another mentioned that the game features way too many similar color schemes as game markers: “I often confuse them with my contract lol.”

The introduction of the medallion in Season 1 was chaotic, to say the least, as many remember that the medallion marker caused far more visibility issues, preventing players from determining the final circle. Many have commented that the current season’s implementation is an attempt by Epic Games to combat this issue.

However, a few shared simple changes that could benefit the many. Ideas such as making borders thicker or even allowing players to choose different colors were some of the changes mentioned by fans.

With Season 2 in its early stages, it will likely be a while before Epic Games makes any adjustments. However, we will keep you informed if they do.
