After the spawn rate of Doom Island saw a temporary increase during the first weekend of September, many Fortnite players were left feeling disappointed by its continued rarity.
The 31.10 update for Fortnite’s Absolute Doom event introduced the Ultra Doom mythic, which was excessively difficult to obtain. Typically, Doom Island has only a 5% chance to spawn during Battle Royale matches.
Luckily, from September 6-8, the Ultra Doom mythic’s appearance rate was buffed to 12%, representing a 7% increase in spawn rate.
Despite this significant boost, a large number of players online expressed their disappointment, noting that the mythic still appeared infrequently.

On September 9, Doom Island reverted to its original 5% spawn chance, and many replies to this post on X came from players who had never encountered the Isle of Doom.
One response stated, “[H]asn’t spawned at all for me,” which was echoed by numerous other players. A few individuals reported finding it on the night of September 8, but did not manage to claim the power for themselves.
“I saw it once last night, got up on it, was trying to figure out how to become Doom, then other people showed up and I died,” remarked one player, while another shared a similar account of their demise when encountering the island.
Some players have even drawn comparisons between Doom Island and Fortnite’s Infinity Mode. “[T]he Infinity Gauntlet had a 100% Spawn Rate,” noted one user, adding, “Fortnite will never be the same again.”
50 hours streamed on Fortnite in the last 5 days!I got Doom Island 9 times. That’s 1 time every 5 hours.

In addition to the player community, well-known streamers have also noticed the rarity of the mythic. “NickEh30” reported streaming Fortnite for 50 hours over five days, yet he encountered Doom Island just nine times.
This suggests that players could expect to find the Isle of Doom roughly once every five hours, indicating the significant playtime required to locate such a rare mythic.
Beyond the low occurrence of Doom Island, many Fortnite players are becoming concerned that Captain Jones’ storyline may be nearing its conclusion.
