Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 frustrated by persistent bug after recruiting Minthara

In Baldur’s Gate 3, adding Minthara to your team during recruitment may trigger a bug where an extra NPC will attack you. However, there is a caveat.

Baldur’s Gate 3, like any other game, has its fair share of bugs. While some may be harmless or even humorous, such as being stuck to Halsin or encountering an oversized tadpole, others can be quite frustrating – especially when they affect combat.

An instance of the latter is a glitch that may occur after enlisting Minthara, as detailed in a Reddit discussion about a specific NPC showing up during battles.

Despite the recurring bug, Cerys, a Tiefling refugee in Baldur’s Gate 3, continues to join combat encounters with your party. However, there is a catch.

No matter where you are on the map, the bug results in the camera switching to her during her turn, even if she is far away from your party.

Recruiting Minthara can lead to Cerys somehow being in combat with you regardless of your party’s location.

The OP explained that no matter where they fought, she was always present at The Light Inn. This even included fights in the basement of Moonrise Towers, which was becoming quite bothersome. Other individuals have also reported experiencing this bug, proving that the OP is not alone.

“Another user mentioned that she disappeared for them after the first Ketheric fight, which was frustrating due to the constant interruption of a loading screen after each round.”

In reference to this bug, a user clarified that it occurs when Minthara is informed of the grove’s whereabouts, betrayed at the gate, and subsequently rendered unconscious before being recruited at Moonrise Towers.

It is possible that players who choose to follow this path may encounter this glitch, but several individuals in the comments have offered advice on how to handle it.

“One user suggested leaving your party at the camp and going solo to defeat the enemy. They mentioned playing as a Monk and being able to defeat the enemy in one turn. The user also advised initiating a conversation with the guards and choosing the option to go to jail, followed by breaking out and taking a long rest to avoid further hostility. It seems like an easy and effective strategy.”

Meanwhile, some players proposed enticing her into the portal during Halsin’s quest, potentially resulting in her demise. As Patch 7 is set to be released later this year, players can anticipate additional bug fixes alongside new alternative endings.
