Even though they may not have a significant impact on gameplay, some players of Baldur’s Gate 3 believe that certain systems could benefit from small adjustments to achieve perfection. One popular suggestion for Patch 7 is the addition of a dye preview feature, which many would appreciate Larian Studios implementing.
Players are offered the opportunity to personalize nearly every aspect of their journey in Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, the Magic Mirror grants them the ability to alter their original character’s appearance to align with the story.
However, there is one small aspect that was overlooked, causing me to travel throughout Faerun in search of ways to customize my party’s equipment. Many players believe that incorporating a diverse dye system would greatly enhance the game’s world.
Despite the fact that dyeing equipment to fit your desired style is not a top priority in the game, for those of us who enjoy customizing our characters’ color schemes, acquiring dyes can be a difficult task, and even more challenging to coordinate with our gear.
Many Redditors believe that a dye preview system would be a valuable addition to the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7, as dyes are not based on colors but rather styles specific to each gear.
Dye colors aren’t indicative of the outcome when applied in BG3.
“Wow, cobalt? That sounds like a great shade of blue, it will fit perfectly with the color scheme! Let’s mix it and see what we get- OH, it’s actually purple,”laughed a player as they described the common reaction of dye users.
One interesting aspect of dyes is their varying effects on different pieces of equipment. As such, there is no way to predict the outcome of combining them with your items.
A solution for this problem has been devised by a player who created a spreadsheet where players can input descriptions of how items look after using dyes. However, fans are still hoping for an in-game option for this system.
Some players also expressed frustration with the process of obtaining dyes in Baldur’s Gate 3, as they are randomly stocked by vendors. They noted that in Act 1, it can be tedious to continually return to the Zhentarim in order to purchase Black & Furnace Red dye, only to find that there are only a few bottles available on each visit. These players emphasized that dyes are purely for visual enhancement and not essential items or weapons.
Having a dye system would be an ideal addition to Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7, as discussed above. For further information on Larian Studios’ RPG, you can read about solving Shadowheart’s troubles in the early stages of the game, or find out about the top choices for the Level 6 spell slot.
