The Pokémon Go Max Out season has introduced significant updates to the popular mobile game, placing the exciting Dynamax Battles at the forefront of the changes.
Inspired by the gameplay from Pokémon Sword & Shield, these colossal battles are now part of Pokémon Go, adding a fresh twist to the traditional Raid mechanics. Currently, players can engage in 1-Star battles featuring the Kanto starters and a singular 3-Star Max Battle with Beldum.
While many players found Beldum’s Max Battle to be a noticeable challenge compared to the ease of 1-Star Raids (though it can still be completed solo), participants returning to 1-Star Raids are now encountering an uptick in difficulty.
Although the exact balance changes implemented are unclear, numerous players are asserting that 1-Star Raids have become significantly tougher.
The conversation commenced with a Reddit post, where a user noted, “It seems that with Beldum gone, 1-Star Max Battles are more difficult as Niantic continues to refine the game’s balance.”

Supporting this observation, one player reported taking on “three Charmander Max Battles” in an afternoon, stating that while they used to breeze through these encounters, they now had a “weather-boosted Squirtle” faint and found that battles are lasting significantly longer.
Other players have also shared their experiences of significant changes to Max Battles. One cited, “I was confused about why I struggled with a Charmander raid! Normally, they don’t even take out one Pokémon, but I actually needed to rely on a second today.”
Another user reported completing approximately “50 [1-Star] Dynamax Battles,” previously dispatching them with one Max Move, but now noting that the encounters are “much harder” and often knock out the first basic Pokémon before even reaching a Max Move.
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding these adjustments from Niantic, either on the Niantic Support X account or the Pokémon Go blog.
