The anime adaptation, Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table, is directly inspired by the seinen light novel series of the same name written by Yushi Ukai and illustrated by Nekometaru. The promotional video, featuring the esteemed voice actress Rie Takahashi, showcases iconic scenes from the light novels brought to life in animated form.

The brief video showcases Yuki Sorimachi as the main protagonist, who finds herself in a difficult situation when she wakes up wearing a maid’s outfit, along with five other girls dressed similarly. Unfortunately, the release date for the anime has not been announced by the staff, so fans will have to eagerly anticipate any future updates.

The Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table anime adaptation has received comments from Yushi Ukai and Nekometaru-san, which were shared by the official X (formerly Twitter) handle for the light novel series.

When translated into English, Yushi Ukai’s comments in Japanese are as follows:

“I still remember how anxious I was beofre the publication of the first volume…I just couldn’t imagine something I had been involved in being worth anything, or that people would actually pick it up. I was seriously worried that we wouldn’t sell a single copy. I never imagined it would turn out like this! I was surprised when I first heard about it, and now I feel a warm sense of joy.”

The author’s wish is for the series to continue, and Nekomateru-san remembers the impact the manuscript had on them when they first read it. They are enamored with the work’s universe and are grateful for the opportunity to illustrate it. Nekomateru-san eagerly anticipates the release of the anime adaptation of Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table.
