The long-awaited PC support for the PlayStation VR2 headset is finally becoming a reality, with the official release date of the Steam app being announced.
The PlayStation VR2 headset is the successor to Sony’s first-generation VR option and can only be used with a PlayStation 5 console and compatible games.
Ever since its release in 2023, PlayStation enthusiasts have been urging Sony to upgrade the headset to accommodate PC VR games. Their requests were finally granted in February of 2024.
On July 25, 2024, the release date for the PlayStation VR2 app was announced on a Steam listing, with the official launch set for August 6, 2024.
Sony initially announced through a blog post that the PlayStation VR2 would be receiving PC support, but did not provide a specific release date until now.
This indicates that, on the aforementioned date, owners of PlayStation VR2 will have the option to download the complimentary application and utilize their $550 headset to access all of Steam’s VR titles.
Despite the June reveal of Sony’s $60 accessory that allows you to connect the PlayStation VR2 to your PC via a Displayport 1.4 cable, you will still need to purchase an adapter.
