Please God, No – One Piece Fans in Panic Mode After Oda’s Sequel Jokes Are Rediscovered

Despite being ongoing for a remarkable two decades, One Piece remains one of the longest-running manga series. The fandom frequently discusses and jokes about this aspect, while eagerly anticipating the start of its final arc. Fans can expect the series to continue its serialization for several more years.

Despite persistent rumors of a sequel titled Two Piece, the fandom has always been unsure of its existence. However, the recent unearthing of Oda’s old comments, in which he playfully hinted at the idea of a sequel, has caused chaos within the fandom.

One Piece fans in shambles after learning the possibility of Two Piece manga adaptation

Many popular series, such as Naruto and Bleach, have come to an end during their lifetime. Following the conclusion of Naruto, its successor series Boruto began serialization. While there may be ongoing discussions about the reputation and quality of the Boruto manga, this does not diminish the potential for a sequel.

In a recent occurrence, some excerpts from a past video of Eiichiro Oda in 2020 have resurfaced. In the official YouTube video, he made a lighthearted comment about his desire to create Two Piece as a follow-up to his series. However, despite it being meant as a joke, many fans have shown their disapproval and concern towards this concept.

Fan Reactions to Eiichiro Oda’s Past Comment

The prevailing attitude towards the potential for a sequel has been largely negative, with numerous fans rejecting the notion entirely. A small number of fans have also voiced their opinions that Oda should take a significant break, particularly considering that his series has been ongoing for nearly twenty years.

Some fans have also suggested that it would be best for the series to come to an end without a sequel. They would prefer if Oda focused on writing a Gundam story, as he had apparently mentioned during his earlier days.

“No thanks. Let the story end with the ending of one piece. I’d rather Oda makes his Gundam idea personally. That would be fun to read I bet!”one fan said.

Many fans pointed out that they would prefer content related to the older generation of pirates instead of a sequel.

“I’d rather we get a prequel with Roger, Garp, or even Joyboy maybe,”another fan said.

A different fan also chimed in, highlighting the absurdity of investing twenty years into following this series only to then be forced to read a sequel. This further emphasizes the fact that the series should be a complete and self-contained story.

“Imagine waiting 20 years for one piece to end just to be baited into reading a sequel,”another fan wrote.

Despite being ongoing for a significant amount of time, the series has lost a considerable number of fans over the course of its serialization. If Oda were to begin a sequel, it is doubtful that the original fanbase would remain intact.

“No legacy please Rather have a new character,”one fan shared.

“Won’t be able to survive another 25 years tbh. After One Piece is over, all manga and anime should too.”a fan wrote.

Despite the lengthy serialization of the series, it is still very likely that a sequel or spin-off story could be released after the series’ conclusion.
