Pocketpair States “No Plans” for Palworld Anime, But Hope Isn’t Lost

Pocketpair might not be currently developing a Palworld anime, but that doesn’t mean the idea is off the table.

Recently, the developers of Palworld announced a collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and Aniplex to elevate Palworld into a multimedia property. The game’s remarkable success upon release, where it secured a place among Steam’s top 10 most-played titles, made this partnership an obvious choice.

A PlayStation 5 version of Palworld has already been revealed due to this collaboration, leading to speculation among fans regarding a potential Palworld anime, thanks to Aniplex’s involvement. However, progress on that front seems to have stalled for now.

During an interview at the Tokyo Game Show with TheGamer, Pocketpair representatives addressed the current status of a possible anime adaptation. While the news may disappoint some fans, there are still reasons for optimism.

How will an anime adaptation of Palworld handle the themes of cannibalism?

“We are very intrigued by the idea of an anime adaptation,” the representatives from Pocketpair shared. “However, there are currently no concrete plans.” While the creation of an anime isn’t actively underway, this doesn’t eliminate the possibility for the future.

The developers elaborated, stating that they feel “the universe and characters of Palworld would translate beautifully to animation.” They reassured fans by expressing their openness to exploring this opportunity in the times ahead.

The dark humor that runs through Palworld, which satirizes elements of the Pokémon franchise, could certainly lead to some hilarious moments in an anime setting. However, we’re curious about how audiences would react to a scene featuring a Lamball facing a barrage of bullets or being shot with arrows.

While the potential for a Palworld anime remains on the table, it’s important to note that Pocketpair is currently entangled in a significant legal battle with Nintendo and Gamefreak. This situation makes it unlikely for an animated version of the game to surface until the legal matter is resolved.
