The beloved baby Pokemon Riolu from Generation 4 is currently featured in a Mass Outbreak event that will last until August 22. This event will make it simple to encounter the Emanation Pokemon throughout Kitakami, making it an ideal opportunity to search for a Shiny variant.

Despite the Outbreak being a great opportunity to catch a Shiny Riolu, players should be aware of one move that could potentially ruin their encounter: Final Gambit.

At level 52, Riolu can learn Final Gambit. This Fighting-type move is incredibly powerful as it causes the user to faint while dealing damage equal to their current HP.

Initially, as pointed out by multiple commenters, it is crucial to save your game just before encountering a Shiny. This precaution allows you to reload and attempt again in case a situation like this occurs.

To prevent losing a wild Shiny to Final Gambit, another option is to employ a Ghost-type Pokemon, as Ghosts are impervious to Fighting-type attacks. This will result in Final Gambit being ineffective and causing no harm to the user.

Fortunately for this player, the odds of encountering Shiny Pokémon during the Outbreak were in their favor. As they recall, “Out of the six Riolu that appeared as shinies, I was able to catch four of them within just 30 minutes.”
