Pokemon Fan Amazed to Find Childhood Card Collection Valued at a “Small Fortune”

A dedicated Pokemon enthusiast was shocked to discover that his childhood card collection is now worth a significant amount of money.

Juan Pardo, a lifelong Pokemon fan, shared with Newsweek that he began his card collection in 2000 when he was just five years old.

“My mom would buy packs for me as gifts because I was obsessed with the Gameboy games, the Nintendo 64 games, and the show,” Pardo explained.

He added that during the early 2000s, Pokemon wasn’t very popular in his hometown, so his mother continued to collect cards since packs and boxes were still quite affordable.

Fast forward 24 years, Pardo decided to revisit his extensive collection of Pokemon cards, which he estimates to be around 3,600 in total. Naturally, he was eager to find out just how much his collection was worth, especially since rare Pokemon cards can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Pardo’s partner, Madeline, shared a TikTok video of them evaluating the collection and checking the value of each card, capturing Pardo’s realization that he was “sitting on a small fortune” of Pokemon cards.

Numerous cards are listed for thousands of dollars online, and in the video, Pardo admitted he still had more cards left to evaluate.

One standout card from his collection, an Ancient Mew, is priced at tens of thousands online. While this impressive collection contains several highly coveted cards, Pardo must have them graded to fully realize their value.

“I don’t think selling is out of the question, but I just started scanning out of curiosity to see what some of the cards could be valued at,” he said. “It’s a total shock for some of these numbers to pop up.”

The TikTok has already garnered over 1.5 million views, with viewers encouraging Pardo to get his cards graded due to their rarity.
