A passionate Pokémon fan recently shared their impressive Legendary Pokémon Halloween costume from the Generation 2 era, receiving much praise from the online community.
One challenge that cosplayers encounter while embodying the Pokémon franchise is the difficulty in creating costumes based on various Pokémon, many of which feature four or no legs. This often leads to choices between dressing as human characters from the series or adopting the Gijinka style, which transforms Pokémon into humanoid representations.
A user on Reddit, known as Square-Working-4114, showcased their homemade Raikou costume from twenty years ago, crafted in collaboration with their father for a school Halloween parade.
The user expressed their enthusiasm for Pokémon Crystal, which is part of the generation that introduced the Legendary Beasts.

“For a second there, I thought I was staring at some kid in a Raikou costume,” one user humorously remarked, “Good to know Raikou is doing well.”
Another user commented, “This is why we have roaming encounters; they don’t want to be caught by this guy.”
One user expressed their admiration, stating, “Amazing! I love the wonky, hand-made Halloween costumes the absolute best. You can always tell a lot of love and thought were put into them, and I can certainly see how much your dad loved you! It’s also fantastic to see how excited you are in the first picture; it seems like an awesome Halloween!”
The effort put into this challenging Pokémon cosplay deserves recognition. Creating a costume for a four-legged giant feline-like Pokémon is no small feat, yet they managed to execute it quite well with available resources.
While many children in the late ’90s opted for costumes of Ash, Brock, and Misty, few dared to represent a massive Electric-type Legendary Pokémon. Back then, true Pokémon fans had to go all out to showcase their favorite characters.
