Niantic has announced information regarding the upcoming Team Rocket takeover event that will take place during Pokemon Go Adventure Week 2024.
Ever since Adventure Week: Taken Over was revealed, Pokemon Go players have been eagerly anticipating the return of Team Go Rocket. This event will provide numerous chances for trainers to challenge Rocket Grunts and Leaders, including the infamous Giovanni.

Dates & times
From Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12 AM to Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:59 PM local time, Adventure Week: Taken Over will be in effect.
Shadow Cresselia’s Debut
Shadow Cresselia will be making its first appearance during the event. It can be obtained by completing a new Special Research story that involves tracking down Giovanni. Additionally, players can earn a Super Rocket Radar by completing the tasks within the Special Research.
As this is a Special Research task, you have the flexibility to complete it at your own speed. However, in order to receive it, you must participate in the game before the Shared Skies season concludes on September 3, 2024 at 9:59 am local time.
Shadow Lugia Returns and Raids
During Adventure Week: Taken Over in Pokemon Go, Shadow Lugia will make a comeback and can be found in 5-Star Raids on both Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11.
Furthermore, the event will feature the appearance of the following Pokemon in Raids:
The rating remains as one star.
- Shadow Mareep
- Shadow Wooper
- Shadow Cranidos
- Shadow Shieldon
Three-Star
- Shadow Nuzleaf
- Shadow Manectric
- Shadow Vibrava
Some Gyms may not be under Team Rocket control, meaning you may come across non-Shadow Raid Pokemon during the event.
More Shadow Pokemon
During the event, both Team Rocket Grunts and Leaders will utilize varying Pokemon. This will provide you with the opportunity to encounter the following:
- Shadow Timburr
- Shadow Tirtouga
- Shadow Archen
Fortunate trainers may also come across Shiny Shadow Pokemon.
Event Bonuses
The bonuses that will be active during Adventure Week are: Taken Over.
- Team GO Rocket will increase their presence at PokéStops and in balloons.
- A Charged TM can be utilized to assist a Shadow Pokémon in removing the Charged Attack Frustration.
Field research tasks reward
Additionally, there will be Field Research tasks based on the event’s theme that will provide you with the following rewards:
- Mysterious Components
- Charged TMs
- Fast TMs
