Pokemon Go: Avatar Clothing Combinations Cause Instant Game Crashes

Pokemon Go offers players a wide variety of unlockable outfits for their Avatars; however, it’s important to note that certain clothing combinations can lead to gameplay crashes, pending future updates from Niantic.

The game has gained a reputation for its bugs, many of which are relatively harmless, manifesting as amusing glitches like textures that appear missing or character models oddly overlapping. Nonetheless, there are more critical issues, such as the infamous Roar of Time, which can lead to players inadvertently depleting their resources, or problems connecting that might cause them to miss out on rewards from Raids.

The Allister Mask Glitch in Pokemon Go

Recently, reports emerged again about a glitch caused by the Allister Mask, which fans have been discussing on platforms like The Silph Road Reddit. Specifically, combining the Allister Mask with certain other items can result in crashes when players attempt to view their Avatar.

Originally available during the Max Out season, players needed to attain Veteran Rank before December 3 to gain access to the Allister Mask. This achievement posed a significant challenge, causing many players to miss the opportunity.

Reports indicate that a perilous combination arises when wearing the Allister Mask paired with the Wooloo Jacket—first introduced in the Holiday 2024 Part 2 event—alongside headgear like the Giratina Hat, Solgaleo Hat, or the Cetoddle Hat. Such combinations reportedly lead to crashes whenever an Avatar is rendered visible.

Within the community discussions, players speculated that exploiting this glitch could result in Gyms becoming “untakeable.” It appears that interacting with the glitched Avatar might lead to a game crash, providing an amusing avenue for trolls. However, this tactic doesn’t yield much, as winning against a Pokemon in a Gym is necessary to earn PokeCoins.

While Niantic may not prioritize fixing this issue, considering the Allister Mask’s limited availability, any malicious use of the glitch could prompt an expedited resolution. Hopefully, the developers will address this promptly to ensure a seamless experience for all players.
