The introduction of the original forms of Dialga and Palkia in Pokémon Go brings a brand new mechanic called Adventure Effects. Here’s how they work.
The original forms of Dialga and Palkia are set to debut in Pokémon Go, and they’re launching alongside a new mechanic.
In addition to these special Hisuian versions of classic Sinnoh legendaries, Pokémon Go Sinnoh Tower introduces something called Adventure Effects to the game. This allows players to gain special bonuses by using powerful attacks outside of battle.
Niantic has indicated that this is just the beginning for this new feature, so here’s everything we know so far about Adventure Effects and how to use them.
It is finally possible to transfer Dialga and Palkia into Pokémon Scarlet and Violet!
What are Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go?
Niantic describes Adventure Effects as “temporary bonuses” to help Pokémon Go trainers. This involves Pokémon using powerful attacks outside of battle to grant useful effects.
When they debut, Adventure Effects will be exclusive to Dialga and Palkia in original form. However, the developers have hinted that more will be added later, saying: “Who knows what Adventure Effects might be discovered in the future…”
How to use Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go
Players who own a Pokémon capable of triggering an Adventure Effect can activate it by going to the Pokémon’s page and scrolling down to the “Adventure Effects” section.
Adventure Effects cost Stardust and Candies to activate, with the amount increasing depending on the desired duration of the Effect. You can extend the duration after activating an Adventure Effect, with a maximum of 24 hours.
Note that you can only activate one Adventure Effect at a time.
All Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go
So far, two adventure effects have been announced for Pokémon Go. They will be exclusive to Dialga and Palkia in original form, as they are based on their signature attacks.
Note that while Queulorior captured via Go Snapshot can generally learn any attack, it will not be able to learn these particular attacks.
Howl-Time
Dialga’s signature attack in original form, Howl-Time, appropriately affects timers in Pokémon Go. Specifically, it pauses the timer on Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Luck Eggs, and Star Pieces when active.
Howl-Time initially lasts six minutes and costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Dialga candies< /span>. You can spend additional Stardust and Dialga Candies to extend this time in six-minute increments up to a total of 2 hours. After that, you can tap “Use again” to add more time (up to two hours), with a maximum of 24 hours in total.
Space-Rift
Palkia in original form has access to Spatio-Rift. When active, it distorts space and allows you to encounter wild Pokémon at an increased distance.
Spatio-Rift initially lasts 10 minutes and costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Palkia Candies< /span> to be activated. As with Howl-Time, you can spend more Stardust and Palkia Candies to extend the effect in 10-minute increments for up to two hours. After that, you can tap “Use again” to add more time (up to two hours), with a maximum of 24 hours in total.
