Niantic has revealed the Pokémon Go Featured Hours schedule for January 2024. With Morpheo, Eevee, Tarsal, Barloche and Trompignon, there’s something to be excited about!
Featured Pokémon Hour is one of the most popular weekly events in Pokémon Go for trainers. Each week, a different Pokémon is thrust into the spotlight, offering very high spawn rates and a special double bonus.
For one hour, trainers have the chance to catch as many Pokémon of that specific species as they can, providing the perfect opportunity to fill up their Pokédex and earn enough Candy to evolve and improve these Pokémon.
This event is also the ideal opportunity to capture the Star Pokémon in Shiny version, when the latter is available in Pokémon Go.

The next featured Pokémon is… Tarsal!
Niantic has confirmed that the next Featured Hour will take place on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m..
The Pokémon highlighted is Tarsal, a Psychic/Fairy Pokémon from the third generation.
Tarsal will appear more frequently in the wild for a short period of time, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time. This means you’ll be able to join in and catch it wherever you play in the world.
In addition to this, players will be able to enjoy Double Transfer Candy for the duration of the featured hour.
Can Tarsal be shiny in Pokémon Go?
Yes! The star hour is also the perfect time to come across many Tarsals and hope to find your shiny version.
If you come across Chromatic Tarsal, you will easily recognize it by its blue top instead of green.

How to prepare for Featured Hour in Pokémon Go
There are several preparations to follow to ensure you don’t waste a precious minute during the Star Hours, which last only 60 minutes:
- Make sure you have enough Poké Balls
- Make sure you have enough Berries to get duplicate candies or make catching them easier
- Empty the Pokémon storage box to make room
- Save Pokécoins and buy at least two Incense for the event
In addition to these tips, Featured Hours are the perfect opportunity to use items like Lucky Eggs or Stardust to increase the XP you earn during the event.
Spawn rate and Shiny rate during Featured Hour
The spawn rate of each Featured Hour Pokémon is increased for 60 minutes during these events, meaning you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch each species. As a result, the spawn rate of each Shiny variation is also increased. Many trainers use Featured Hours to enhance their collection.
If the shiny appearance rate of the majority of Pokémon is around 0.2% (1/500), the monsters highlighted during the Featured Hour have a shiny appearance rate estimated at 4 % (1/25).
