A Pokémon Go player accidentally created a four-armed, heart-shaped monster for Valentine’s Day, thanks to a clipping bug that occurs with the Buddy mechanic.
Pokémon Go is no stranger to bugs, one of the most common involving overlapping Pokémon in the overworld. This is due to them appearing in large numbers at the same time, occasionally causing their 3D models to interact with each other in unintentional ways.
This problem is exacerbated by Pokémon Go’s Buddy mechanic, which allows you to feed treats to one of your Pokémon, allowing it to follow you into the outside world. The fact that your Buddy Pokémon can move freely means it has more potential to cause visual glitches.
Sometimes, certain bugs occur at the perfect time, which helps to burn them into fans’ memories. This happened in Pokémon Go, where a monster was created that fits into the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebrations.
A Machamp x Lovdisc fusion glitch in Pokémon Go
A user on the Pokémon Go Reddit shared an image of the terrible Pokémon fusion created by overlapping Pokémon Buddies. They fused a Lovdisc into a Machamp, forming a heart-shaped beast with four arms and a menacing gaze, which other fans think is awesome.

“Just in time for Valentine’s Day,” one user wrote, while another said, “I’ve seen a few of these screenshots that are pretty funny but this is the first one that got me makes you laugh out loud.”
The name of this Pokémon fusion has also been a point of contention. “Lovknocker,” one fan suggested, while another chose “Hatedisc.” One user had an idea if Lovdisc had been merged into another member of the line, “Too bad it’s not a Machopeur… Lovchoke.”
Unfortunately, these merges are never permanent, as the game will eventually adjust and disconnect the two overlapping 3D models. This is a shame, because the merger between Machamp and Lovdisc only lived for a short period of time, before being torn apart.
Lovdisc is currently a popular Pokémon in Pokémon Go, so it’s no surprise to see it appear in a fusion like this. This is especially appropriate for this time of year, as we can see what another heart-shaped Pokémon might look like.
