Despite being disappointed by poor IVs on your Pokemon Go shinies and Legendaries, you may be surprised to learn of their high value in both PvP and PvE battles.
Pokemon Go players are dedicated to finding Pokemon with the best IVs (individual values) and powering them up for both PvP and PvE battles. A 100 IV is considered optimal for Raids and the Master League, while for lower GBL battles, players prioritize Pokemon with higher Defense and HP stats.
Despite discovering a rare wild shiny Gyarados, Reddit user ‘Crying_still’ was disappointed to find its low IVs. However, other players had some unexpected information to share about IVs in Pokemon Go.
A player argued that IVs are not as important as some may believe. In response, another player added that, in rare cases such as mirror matches in high-level PvP battles, the difference between the best and worst IVs may only result in a 1HP difference and a potential switch advantage.
One person remarked, “Upon closer examination, the impact of the IVs on the quality is not as significant as one might think.”
It was widely acknowledged that their 1-star Blaziken and Gyrados were “absolute monsters in PVP,”with one person even mentioning this. It should be noted that a 1-star species in Pokemon Go has the lowest range of IVs possible, while a 4-star has a perfect 100 IV.
A trainer explained that while a 100 IV Pokemon is only marginally stronger than a 0 IV one, the difference is negligible and therefore insignificant. Despite a slight advantage in mirror matchups for a Pokemon with 15 Attack IV, players agreed that the level of a Pokemon holds much greater importance.
In Pokemon Go, IVs are not the sole determining factor in intense battles. Rather, factors such as high levels, strategic move selection, and timely Pokemon switches hold greater importance than the IVs of your Pokemon.
Therefore, if you possess uncommon shinies with low IVs, do not hesitate to utilize them in battles on Pokemon Go.
