In July 2024, Niantic revealed their intentions to hold a replacement event for the Mega Rayquaza Raid that occurred in June. This decision was made following complaints from trainers who struggled to locate Elite Raids for the Legendary, which is considered one of the strongest Pokemon in the series.
The rescheduled makeup event is scheduled for August 3, 2024. In addition, Niantic has announced a Special Raid Timed Research challenge that will take place during the event. The Timed Research offers rewards such as XP, Stardust, and a unique Meteorite.

As expected, a Raid-themed Timed Research challenge necessitates players to join and emerge victorious in Raids. Furthermore, be sure to capitalize on type advantages by using super-effective Charged Attacks.
Additionally, it is important to note that the Meteorite is required for Rayquaza to master the formidable attack known as Dragon Ascent. Upon successfully completing this challenge, Pokemon Go trainers will receive one Meteorite.
How to Access Mega Rayquaza Special Raid Research
This Timed Research challenge is open to all players and does not require any additional payment during the makeup event. Please note that the Raid event will take place from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time on August 3, 2024.
