A recent incident in Pokemon Go has sparked significant discussion among players after a user expended a valuable Master Ball on a Shiny Galarian Bird, leading to an unexpected wave of disappointment.
Within the realm of Pokemon Go, Legendary Pokémon are often the most sought-after entities, representing the pinnacle of achievement for trainers. Among these, the Galarian Birds—regional variants of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres—are particularly elusive. Players can encounter these majestic creatures exclusively through the use of Daily Adventure Incense, though they possess a staggering flee rate of 90%.
Two Hard-Hitting Facts
In a post shared on Reddit, one player revealed their decision to utilize a Master Ball upon encountering a Shiny Galarian Articuno, a tempting opportunity that quickly turned sour.
My brain just died for a moment 😭 I used a masterball for this 🙃 by u/NoMarionberry7949 in pokemongo
Upon checking the Pokémon’s IVs, the player was met with a discouraging surprise: the Shiny Galarian Articuno had abysmal stats. With zero stars displayed in the appraisal, it showed poor Attack and Defense, indicating it would be ineffective in battle.
This revelation prompted sympathy from fellow trainers, with some sharing similar stories of their own misfortunes. One respondent recounted their own experience, stating, “Yeah, you good. I did the same thing back in November.” Another user contributed a humorous touch by posting a picture of a regular Galarian Articuno, lamenting, “Bro I used a Master Ball for this just now…”
Furthermore, an additional layer of frustration arose when a commentator highlighted a key detail: “The Shiny G-Birds won’t flee as long as you have balls.” This means that while they are challenging to capture, players do not have to worry about them escaping if they possess any Poké Balls in their inventory. Consequently, this player not only faced unfortunate luck but had also mistakenly squandered a Master Ball unnecessarily.
Notably, many players may not be aware that although Galarian Birds have a high flee rate, their Shiny counterparts are uniquely elusive only in terms of difficulty during the capture process.
On a positive note, some users proposed trading options for the underwhelming Pokémon, as IVs can shift when Pokémon are transferred. This provides a glimmer of hope that the unfortunate trainer might still salvage their experience by trading the Shiny Galarian Articuno for a more competitive Pokémon.
