A Pokémon Go trainer has sparked community outrage after sharing how he cheered up some “sad” Mewtwos ” that he had in his collection.
Pokémon Go has introduced a ton of monsters to the game over the years, some even having multiple forms.
In addition to many costumed Pokémon, many monsters have Dark variants carried by members of Team Rocket. Some of these Dark variants of Pokémon are even stronger than their Purified counterparts, thanks to a decent increase in their attack stat.
So, the community was shocked after a trainer shared how he decided to boost the morale of his group of Mewtwo to stop them from feeling “sad” .

The post came from the Pokémon Go subreddit, where a user named HalfMeHalfLife created a thread titled, “I didn’t want them to be sad.”
The author shared a screenshot showing six Mewtwos all with ‘Purified’ icons next to their names. Aside from being difficult to capture, many fans consider the Shadow Mewtwo superior to its standard counterpart.
Naturally, the fact that this trainer chose to forgo the 20% stat boost and use valuable resources to purify his Mewtwo collection left some in the community outraged.
“It kinda hurts watching this…” one player said, while another commented, “Delete that. Not the post. Your Pokémon Go account.”
Others defended the choice, as one fan commented, “Before anyone complains: it’s their choice what they do with the Pokémon they’ve captured.”
Some fans simply appreciated what they considered to be a “meme” post and congratulated the OP. “This is the best post I have ever seen on here. Thanks to the author for just wanting to watch the world burn from this sub. Enjoy your Happy Mewtwo my friend.”
At the end of the day, this trainer still has an impressive number of Mewtwos. Purified or not, the Legendary OG remains a rare and valuable Pokémon to have in your Pokédex
